Bufflehead Software is an independent software company. We design and publish applications for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
The company was formed in Pennsylvania in August 2026 and is currently building its first applications. We work on a small number of things at a time and ship them when they are genuinely finished, which is a slower way to work and produces software we are willing to put our name on.
Everything we publish carries the same commitments: no advertising, no third-party tracking SDKs, and no collection of personal information we do not need in order to make the software work. Those are constraints we have chosen deliberately, and they are described in plain terms in our privacy policy.
What we do
Application development
Native applications for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, built with Swift and the platform frameworks rather than cross-platform wrappers.
Publishing and support
We distribute through the Apple App Store and support what we ship directly. Questions reach a person, not a queue.
Longevity
Software is maintained across OS releases. We would rather keep a small catalogue working than accumulate a large one that does not.
Our approach
Buffleheads are the smallest diving ducks in North America. They nest in abandoned woodpecker holes because they are the only duck small enough to fit, and they resurface from every dive. Being small is the strategy, not a limitation — it is what makes it possible to care about details that would not survive a larger process.
